Achleitner Organic Farm, Eferding

Energy optimisation before the groundbreaking ceremony: The Achleitner Organic Farm in the Upper Austrian town of Eferding was modelled with the help of a computer simulation (TAS). IPJ engineering office developed an energy concept that uses the soil as a heating and cooling source. For the insulation of the big hall, straw was used as a renewable raw material.

The new Achleitner Organic Farm in the Upper Austrian town of was modelled with the help of a computer simulation (Program TAS). Then Cologne specialists simulated a reference year in which all weather developments typical for the Linzer county were simulated and calculated in the computer, from frost up to dog days. The savings achieved on account of these results are amazing, above all in the heating costs area.

Within the scope of the simulation, the extremely dynamic operation of the new building with varying occupancy figures, working hours and opening hours was considered computationally, as was the reaction of the building and the plants to all these influences. With the help of this method, the P. Jung office was able to calculate in advance the future indoor temperatures and the energy requirements and to gradually optimise these in always new variation calculations.
